Materials

Out of respect for the body and the environment, we work exclusively with safe, water-based materials.

All materials used in the studio are professionally developed and have been used for many years in body casting and related applications. They are selected with care — for your safety, for us as artists, and for the integrity of the final work.

We maintain close relationships with our suppliers and stay informed about new materials and technical developments. During every session, you are guided step by step through the process so that you feel secure and informed throughout.

Plaster & Plaster Bandages

Plaster is used during the casting process as a supportive outer shell and may also be used as the final material. When mixed with water, a natural chemical reaction occurs due to its limestone content, allowing the material to harden and stabilize the form.

Alginate

Alginate is a naturally occurring polymer derived from brown algae. It is skin-safe and does not cause harm. We use alginate because it captures fine surface detail while remaining gentle on the body and minimizing discomfort, including with body hair.

Acrylic Resins

Water-based resins can be reinforced with fiberglass lamination. This creates a durable, long-lasting material capable of holding precise detail and supporting a variety of surface finishes.

Cold-cast metal effects are created using water-based resin combined with real metal powders, producing surfaces that resemble solid metal.

Ceramics & Porcelain

Ceramic and porcelain works are produced using plaster or press molds.

Bronze

Bronze is the most permanent material option. It is designed to endure over time and develop character as it ages.
